PERU, Lima, cob 2 reales, 1660 (V), variety with 660 over 2-star-2, unique, ex-Ponte. S-L5; KM-16; Cal-840. 3.49 grams. Bold and 100% full crown above 660 date, five-point star flanked by 2's, and faint PLVS between off-center pillars, most of off-center cross, VF details with moderate corrosion and stripped hole in edge, toned on fields, clearly not pristine but still an elusive type and, in fact, a variety of which we have never seen another example. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection of Lima Silver Cob 2 Reales and to the Luis R. Ponte Collection, also to Sedwick Auction 16 (lot 506).
